Today was a good day for me. Mark woke me up at 10 in the morning to tell me that there was a Polar Bear not far from the ship. I quickly put on my clothes and grabbed the digital camera. I ran outside to the top deck. Luckily I had made it before we got close to the bear. I got a good look at him stand up on his two legs. When I looked through the binoculars he looked the size of a dime. This was one of the best experiences so far on the trip because it was one of my goals on the trip to be able to see a polar bear. He must have weighed over 900 lbs. and was absolutely huge.

Later in the day we had another fire drill around 1 o'clock or so. These fire drills happen about every four days or so. What happens is that they lock down all of the doors and hatches. The civilians onboard, some Coasties, and the NASA team and me go to the hanger at the back of the ship to wait until they have handled everything.

At around 2 in the morning Mark, Seth, a couple NAVY guys, and myself watched the movie Replacement Killers. I don't know what was in me to watch a movie at 2 in the morning but I guess I couldn't go to sleep. I ended up going to bed at around 4 or so. It was still light outside, which was quit amazing.
