REMARKS: The Polar Duke will arrive in the Hugo Island Archipelago approximately 0500 LT tomorrow. If weather permits, a shore party will finish work on the AWS weathervane. The Duke will then proceed to Palmer Station later that day to continue staging for LTER.

SHIP'S POSITION: Hugo Island to Palmer Station
REMARKS: The Polar Duke arrived at Hugo Island at 0500 LT and sent a group
ashore to repair the windvane on the AWS (Automated Weather Station).
Work proceeded quickly and all was completed by 0640 LT. Two subsequent
satellite passes within the hour indicated that all weather monitoring
instruments were functioning normally. The vessel then got underway for
Palmer, stopping briefly for a 2M net trawl that was filmed by the LFA
crew. The vessel arrived at Palmer at 1130 LT and cargo offload began
promptly. The afternoon was devoted to transferring all remaining cargo.
Dr. Polly Penhale moved on station to assume her role as the NSF representative
on site. The Polar Duke will depart Palmer on 11 January in the morning
to begin inshore sampling operations and to allow filming by the LFA crew.
