This is the floor camera and light mounted by Paul
Askins and Rob Fong. They are pointed at the underside of the wing so
the tufts can be seen. The video will be put on tape as well as viewed
in the control room when the test is running.

This is the drivetrain that turns the propeller. This
chain is almost identical to the type of chain used by the Wright Brothers
- a bicycle chain!

At the very beginning of each shift, a meeting is
held by Pete Zell for all members of the Wright Flyer crew. Any work that
was done after the previous shift is discussed as well as plans for this
shift, schedule, and any other special issues. Known problems are reviewed
as are the plans to fix them. Resource conflicts are also identified such
as one crew needing the tunnel doors shut to do their task, while another
crew needs access to the model. This meeting enables the entire crew to
know what is going and who is doing what. Sometimes mid-shift or end-of-shift
meetings are called to review progress and make any needed schedule modifications.
Even though the meeting may take place at 06:45, 12:30,
3:00 or 23:30, by tradition it is always called the "morning" meeting.
Likewise the meal break at the midpoint of the shift is always called
lunch - no matter what time of day it is!

This wooden nosecone was built by Pete Zell especially
for this test.

The nosecone goes onto the front tip of the dogleg
on the sting. This results in better airflow around the sting and it looks
a lot nicer!!

A photo of the beautifully scalloped trailing edge
of the wing.

The spars of the wings look like ribs poking through
a shirt on the underside of the wing. You can also see the cable and angle
sensor of the wingtip angle instrumentation.
