Virtual Skies

Online Activities
Many activities will be offered online through the Virtual Skies Web site, such as Webcasts, where you can view a special NASA research area and ask questions of the experts. We will also feature Web chats where you can ask questions in real time, directly to NASA researchers about the work they are performing. There will also be an ongoing Q & A (questions and answers) page where you can post your question and later on have it answered by NASA experts who will post an answer.

Online Web Chats
Connecting you with NASA Aerospace Team members is an important part of this Web site. Chats will be scheduled regularly and you are welcome to sign-up for more than one. We will be offering chats with specialists, researchers and experts in many fields that relate directly and indirectly to air traffic management from civil engineers to airport managers to air traffic controllers to pilots, you can meet them here and ask them questions about the work they do.

All experts featured in the Webchats also have a brief profile that provides you with some insight into who they are, why they chose the career they have, a description of the type of work they do as well as what they've learned along the way that has helped them in their chosen career. It is recommended that you review the profile prior to the chat to assist you in developing your questions.

See the chat schedule to find who will be chatting online each month, and then follow the directions for signing up.

Online Webcasts
Throughout the year we will offer a live Webcast featuring an aspect of NASA research in aviation operations systems and aviation safety. Each live Webcast is archived and available for viewing. This year we plan to visit the "virtual control tower" Future Flight Central at NASA Ames Research Center. Here we will learn about the research being performed by the FAA and NASA in airport safety systems and airport design. We will also get an opportunity to visit the Crew Vehicle Research Facility where cockpit operations and human interactions are examined. There will be even more on-location visits to be made as the research facilities become available to our webcam, so check the calendar periodically as it will be updated.

These activites are being offered through NASA Quest. Visit Quest for further information about these, and many more fascinating online learning experiences with NASA.
