Tech Shop Test Flight Results - 3/17/99:

Testing Conditions: Inside Testing
Temperature: 68 degrees
Each plane was thrown three (3) times.

Here are the results for the hand-thrown gliders averaged out:

Name Weight Distance Motion
Mike 13.7 g 10'5" tumbling
Matt 12.5 g 7'6 1/2" pulled to left
Eric 10.7 g 7'5 1/2" no stabilizer
Geoff 15.0 g 11'3" not stable (flips-twist)
Sean 13.5 g 9' nose dips
Sean 16.5 g 9'2" straight flight
Joe 16.0 g 11'10" straight/nose down
Adam 14.5 g 8'3" tumbling

The final testing was done using a launching device. The results:

Name Weight Distance Motion
Mike 13.7 g 10'2" nose up
Matt 12.5 g 15' straight flight
Eric 10.7 g 9' no stabilizer
Geoff 15.0 g 17' flips
Sean 13.5 g 10' nose up
Sean 16.5 g 5' straight up
Joe 16.0 g 13' nose up
Adam 14.5 g 10'5" tumbling

We have begun redesigning and construction of a new group of planes.
Basic design modification might be:
1. Lighter body weights
2. More wing surface area
3. Modification of stabilizer
4. Decreasing fin drag
5. Improvement of launching device
