Final Results

Hi Everyone!

Well, here are our final results. They are much better than our first flights!
We launched them in the garden like before, same pilots, at a 45 degree angle.

Group Name Original Flight Distance Redesigned Flight Distance
Team 1: High Flyers 79 cm 200 cm
Team 2: Golden Birds 80 cm 453 cm
Team 3: Tweety Birds 192 cm 272 cm
Team 4: SMart People 100 cm 110 cm (wing broke)
Team 5: Bomb Squad 430 cm 220 cm (wing broke)
Team 6: Higher Steps 202 cm 305 cm

Everyone had fun doing this project and I enjoyed receiving the email each morning. I won't be sending the best glider to Nasa as it broke apart. Balsa wood is difficult for students of this age to handle. They did learn, however, to work slowly and carefully, something that is also difficult for them.

Sincerely,
Jean Trader and The Pastorius Kids

Earlier Results
Hi Everyone,
Well, now that our 8" of snow has melted, we have finally launched our gliders. We went out to the school garden and ignored the 40 mph. gusts of wind and these are our results:

TEAM # NICK NAME DISTANCE COMMENT
1 High Flyers 79 cm It looped around and came back

2 Golden Birds 80 cm It also looped around and came back

3 Tweety Birds 192 cm

4 SMart People 87 cm The wing broke off before flight

5 Bomb Squad 430 cm

6 Higher Steps 202 cm

We are looking forward to redesigning our gliders!!
