Mr. Miya's Class: Oahu, Hawaii

Aloha,
This is Mr. Miya's class in Waipahu on the island of Oahu.
A few weeks ago we test flew our gliders. We decided to use two hotwheel tracks. The lower side of the track was attached to the balcony outside our classroom at 14 1/2 ft high (second floor). The higher end was mounted to a rolling chalkboard.

We thought this method of testing would be better than hand-throwing the gliders. We tried to control variables but quickly discovered that the wind would be one that could not be controlled. We plan to test our newly-designed gliders inside the cafeteria.

Here are our results:

Kalani- 7ft-flew up side down
Jesse- 5ft-broke when it hit the ground
Nathan- 5ft- the plane rolled and pitched
Kunia - 2ft- plane went straight down
Chris - 4ft- plane flew in a back and forward motion
Cassandra- minus 6 inches
Felix- minus 6 inches- pithed and then yawed?
Jeremy- 6ft -straight into the ground

We are somewhat behind schedule, but plan to re-design and build when we return from Spring Break.
I guess you can say we are on true Hawaiian time!
Aloha.
