Latest Test Results

Right Flyers: Hey this is Rachel and Kevin from Jacksboro Middle School Technology Lab in Tennessee with the results from our planes.

We designed a launcher with a sheet of cardboard, balsa runners, and a rubber band. We launched them from a 20,25,and 50 degree angle.

What follows are a few of our group's design plans.

Group One, Two, and Four Design Plans:

We will post our best design soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First Test Results:

Well, we test-flew our first gliders yesterday and the results were pretty good. Most of the groups had predicted that they would do okay, and they did. We hand-launched our gliders from a height of 134 cm inside our classroom.
Here are our results:

Megan's team: 5.9 grams
First flight at 20 degree launch angle. It went straight, flipped and broke.
Distance 226 cm. Time 1.56 seconds.

Derek's team: 4.7 grams First flight at 20 degree launch angle. It flew straight, then flipped.
Distance 246 cm. Time 1.38 seconds.
Second flight at 0 degree launch angle. It went straight and flipped.
Distance 138 cm. Time 1.72 seconds.

Sean's team: 6.4 grams
First flight at 20 degree launch angle. It flew straight, flipped, and made a left turn.
Distance 170 cm. Time .97 seconds.
Second flight at 0 degree launch angle. It flew straight, looped, and fluttered down.
Distance 134 cm. Time .58 seconds.

Jessica's team: 4.7 grams
First flight at 20 degree launch angle. It flew a little and made two loops.
Distance 86 cm. Time .56 seconds.
Second flight at 0 degree launch angle. It flew straight ahead, did two loops, and fluttered down.
Distance 157.48 cm. Time .94 seconds.

Dewane's team: 5.6 grams
First flight at 20 degree launch angle. It flew far and did a backward loop.
Distance 302.26 cm.
Second flight at 0 degree launch angle. It flew straight ahead, and turned around.
Distance 307 cm. Time 1.22 seconds.
