Branden Ogata

His Glider
a photo of a glider whose long wings have curved surfaces and bent wing tips

Teacher: Patricia Ogata
School: Home
Your Name: Branden Ogata
Your Grade: 4th grade
E-mail Address: KPBOgata1@juno.com

Modifications to the wing are as follows:
1. Balanced on CG - allows the glider fly efficiently, a point where a weight distribution is equally balanced.
2. Polyhedral - gives roll stability, the glider has less tendency to lift or drop a wing tip.
3. Increased wing span - increases wing area, gives more lifting surface and higher aspect ratio, flatter glide angle.
4. Semi-elliptical wing planform - better drag pattern, less drag 5. Curved chord (wing) - increases lift.
6. Wing placement at 1/5 fuselage - increase the effect of the tail section, gives better stability.

Trial test #: Distance:
1 393 in, 998 cm
2 585 in, 1456 cm
3 1071 in, 2720 cm
4 601 in, 1527 cm
5 612 in, 1554 cm

Glider weight: approx. 1 oz
Launch force: approx. 24 oz
Launch angle: 0

Look forward to hearing from all the rest of the Right Flyers!
Branden
